Gaming software giant NetEnt celebrated International Women’s Day last week by announcing its new partnership with non-profit organisation, Girls in Tech Gibraltar.
International Women’s Day, held annually on March 8th, is dedicated to the celebration of women’s achievements on a global scale while also focusing on the increasing need for better gender equality in all spheres of life.
About Girls in Tech
Girls in Tech (GIT) is an international non-profit organization which concentrates its efforts on “the engagement, education and empowerment of girls and women who are passionate about technology.” Founded by Adriana Gascoigne in 2007, GIT aims to create a support network for women looking to advance their careers in the technology industry and STEM fields. They have been achieving this through innovative programmes as well as significant global partnerships, such as this most recent one with NetEnt. With headquarters in San Francisco and over 100,000 members globally, this organisation relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to lead every one of their 60 local chapters, which vary according to local interests and needs.
However, GIT stresses that it is “not just for professional women” but also aims to act as a platform for women interested in technology and startups, and looking to grow their abilities. Operating with “the spirit of the girl within all of us”. GIT continues to be fearless, lively and determined in its pursuit of these goals.
NetEnt to Raise Awareness and Lend Support
NetEnt is known as a company that values diversity and equality as fostering new industry talent. With offices in Gibraltar and the country also serving as an essential meeting point in the iGaming world, this partnership will be able to thrive in more ways than one.
The software provider aims to support GIT through awareness as well as lending support to events organised both in Gibraltar as well as other locations where NetEnt offices are based. This contribution, it hopes to continue advocating gender equality in the technology sector.
Part of NetEnt’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy is to have 50/50 gender representation throughout the company by 2020, and this new partnership will also serve to bolster their commitment to this goal as well as to continue supporting diversity and equality in the industry.
